Mougins School

Prepare for tomorrow's world with an education worthy of today

About Us

Mougins School, created in 1964, celebrates fifty years of existence this year and it is certainly the story of the acorn growing into an oak tree. Established originally in Cannes the School then moved to the St Basile area of Mougins where numbers reached nearly one hundred and the walls would stretch no further. In 1987 the School was established on its present site in Mougins (Sophia Antipolis). However, it bore little similarity to the present campus. Some staff still remember working in pre-fabricated buildings and the single, original, wooden-clad building which staffed offices and several primary classes. This, the first of six buildings which make up the site, is now a unique Performing Arts Building which will be given its official inauguration this year with several musical and theatrical productions.

The School’s way of life is characterised by caring, tolerance, security, praise and high expectations. We believe that pupils learn best when they are encouraged and valued, trusted and respected.”

The School architect, a specialist in wooden constructions, has created an exceptional campus which now comprises Performing Arts, Primary, Rosanna (classrooms, two Art Studios and Examinations Room), Gymnasium, Science (four laboratories) and Administration (offices, Library and Café des Amis). The gardens have been carefully planned in order to provide both play areas and areas of quiet contemplation. There is a synthetic football pitch and a high court for games. These superb facilities enable and encourage students to develop not only academically, but also in the sporting, musical, artistic and theatrical domains.

Over five hundred students of forty nationalities, aged 3-18, follow the British curriculum adapted to an international school. A caring environment and a philosophy which encourages students to attain their potential produces excellent results (100% pass rate at A-Level for five consecutive years), and the majority of the students go on to higher education in prestigious universities world wide.
