People Of Mougins university counsellor

Dione, tell us about yourself

This September I joined the team at Mougins as a University Counsellor. Everyone here has been so friendly and kind that settling in has been easy. I am originally from Hawaii and still consider it home although I’ve lived in Northern California, New York, Colorado the UK and now France. My studies have included English Literature at UC Berkeley, a Juris Doctor in Law and PGCE in several different Universities including Pace Law School New York, UCL and University of Manchester. Helping students to find their future course in life is one of my favourite things. When not working, I enjoy sea kayaking with my family, watching rugby and hiking.

Tell us about your greatest achievement

Every year after exam results, I share in the excitement and achievement of the students that I have helped along the way. I also was delighted to present a lecture titled ‘Deconstructing Constructivism’ at an Amle conference in Honolulu as speaking to very large groups of peers is not something that I find easy to do. Lastly, representing the Riverkeeper Foundation in a large class action against polluters of the Hudson River in New York was one of my proudest moments.

What is your steepest learning curve?

My first day teaching high school in Warrington, England…

Mougins School is a great place because…

It’s a wonderful learning environment. Beautiful, peaceful, inspiring and filled with staff who really work so hard to support this dynamic student body.
